If the war comes
During our five years away we kept a few things in storage. A few things is an underestimate, though. We did a good job giving things away before we left, yet we were dreading those boxes. However, apart from the one with recycling glass that were wrapped and packed by mistake, we have felt quite satisfied and proud of the decisions we made five years ago. And it becomes painfully clear what things we tend to keep. I mean.... apparently we have five coffee grinders. A few were shipped from Singapore and a few were kept in storage. The person collecting grinders was also the one highlighting that I have collected glassware for a whole army. I once was taught that one need at least a dozen of glasses for every kind of drink (red wine, white wine, cherry, champagne, cognac, cocktails and water) and the same with the porcelain and the cutlery. It is tremendously silly, since it takes up so much space. However, for me it creates some kind of security. Possibly false. Five coffee grinders and tableware for an army. We are prepared. For serving food, drinks and coffee. And also you know where to go. If the war comes. When... If....
