Travelling through springtime

We drove through the pretty landscape with vineyards and cherry blossom, stopped for a while by an old bridge and spend the night in a city built for the knight templars. The city centre and the castle were situated inside the stone walls and it almost looked like a castle within the castle, like something you would read about in a fairytale.

And we reached Marseille at the the same time as the rain, made our way to our Moroccan Ryad and found an excellent place for dinner close to the old harbour. Marseille was beautiful, despite the grey sky, and we used the daytime to wander around in the oldest parts of town and eventually took the bus up to the grand cathedral on the hill. A place from where the view was amazingly beautiful, like a very difficult 1000-pieces jig saw puzzle.

The last day was sunny and we went to a Farmers Market to buy olive oil and cheese. We had our breakfast by the very same square and were happy being able to bring the pastries from the closest bakery to the café. We found a cheese shop and an olive dito and decided to bring the best part of France with us home.

Before it was time to leave for the airport we decided on a creperie for lunch. I put my pouch with my phone, money, ID and credit cards in my bag and we strolled downhill to the restaurant. When we 20 minutes later were about to pay for a colourful lamp, I realised that the exact same pouch, with all my valuables, was gone. Rather inconvenient, indeed!

However, even though it all ended with not having any time for crepes, I still think that springtime in France is pretty amazing and Marseille is definitely a city worth coming back to!
