Through the Kalahari desert
'What makes the desert beautiful,' said the little prince, 'is that somewhere it hides a well...'
We drove through the Kalahari desert to a place with grass and sand. We set up our tent for the first time and prepared for a dinner by the fire, just to realise that we had forgotten the matches. These guys took us on a bush walk to show us eatable roots and plants useful as medicaments. And they actually showed us how to make a fire.
We didn't manage to adopt their fire making skills, but luckily got hold of a box of matches. The Winter days in the Kalahari desert are hot. The nights are freezingly cold. And dark. One definitely needs a fire.
