It was a perfect night for making wishes
We were a bit late getting out from the dinner table to the fresh air just before midnight. The neighbours had already started their fireworks, while we were trying to fill our glasses with champagne and the paper lanterns, Khom Loi, with warm air. The latter took a while. We started out with matches and it took three people working together to make it fly. However, since every successful new years lemon meringue cheese cake pie needs a burner anyway, we had one and levelled up the lighting process. The fireworks around us disappeared and we continued drinking champagne, wishing each other Happy New Year and lighting the Khom Loi, agreeing on that 2017 seemed to be about patience. And trust. It was absolutely magical watching the paper lanterns getting filled with warm air and fly through the sky. And it was a perfect time for making wishes.
New Years eve was one of those rare evenings where you feel so embraced with love and care, so anything becomes possible. And I guess it is the result of patient friendships that create the trust we need to make it all extraordinary. It was an extraordinary New Years Eve. And a perfect night for making wishes.
