A place where one's existence is remarkable to someone

I went to a talk yesterday. A Swedish author spoke about myths, stories and books and why they have been so valuable to her through her life. She talked about the stories of Narnia and when she walked through a closet full of heavy winter clothes to reach a snowy land with a streetlamp, a bench and a faun. We who spent a few hours in the land of Narnia as children probably saw those creatures becoming stones for real and also fought the battle between Aslan and the Ice Queen. We fell into deep wells or were swept away while watching the painting of the Dawn Treader. The author said she felt hope, since these stories always contain new possibilities. When one thinks it is all dark and is facing the impossible, there is always a new door that can be opened, a new landscape to visit and a new world to embrace.

It is a true joy hearing about other's inner worlds. And the sense of belongingness that we are quite a few who slips between different universes to make reality brighter and fantasy more real. The author said that life is about both experiencing and permitting that one's existence is remarkable to someone else. I agree. And when it isn't, I think it is reasonable to find a book or a hidden inner landscape where we feel that way. At least for a while. A place where our existence is remarkable and extraordinary to a faun, a lion or a sister. Or maybe to ourselves.
