To make it to the choir festival
We played a game as children, my brother and I. It was called the Choir Festival. This is definitely not an established game like Musical Chairs or Hide and Seek. It is situated at a choir festival where he is a guard and I am a choir member. I go to the entrance, report my name and my choir and the guard always and without exception responds; "That choir does not exist". Every time we played this game I tried to develop my skills of workaround the topic and fooling the guard into making a mistake, so I would be let in to the festival. Well, that never happened... Since I told my brother's friends about this game, as a part of my speech at his wedding, it has almost become a saying in our circles. When one has this feeling of speaking to a wall that isn't possible to get through or is met with silence, we say "That choir doesn't exist!"
I have now spent half a year searching for a choir that can be mine. And the both emotional and frustrating process has similarities with that childhood game. I report my name and ask to come in and someone else gets to decide whether this will happen. So, I am ridiculously happy to say that I have found my place. I am part of a choir, that actually exists. Finally, I made my way into the Choir Festival, so to speak...
