This enormous cathedral of light

“In a Wonderland they lie. Dreaming as the days go by. Dreaming as the summer die.” 

It could be a hopeless case to swim back to an underwater Wonderland and think it would have the same impact as it once did. But the thing is, that these places continuously change in a way that does something to the experience. First time was filled of reluctance and excitement and I surely didn't know what to expect. Second time was like revisiting a place of serene beauty and extraordninariness, where I knew I found a new piece of both the world and myself. Third time is a realization that it just continues. That Wonderland keeps changing and offering new experiences, emotions and challenges. It will never be my normal world. It will rest down there as a dream I can visit and for a while be part of, but never, forever, stay in.

The longer the day passed, it got cloudier and cloudier and suddenly started raining. We bought lunch and tried to wait for the clouds to travel North. Suddenly the sun was out and we had to quickly prepare the gear and get into the water to not miss the show.

“My dear, here we must run as fast as we can, just to stay in place. And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that.”

And it doesn't matter how many cenotes you have dove, for when you stand there looking down in the tiniest sinkhole you've ever seen, you think it is a joke and need to trust both yourself and the guide to even try it out. So the White Rabbit showed the way down into this enormous cathedral of light, where sunbeams were shining through the surface as if it was a spotlight on a stage. It was surreal being in that underwater dome, knowing the entrance was nothing more than a tiny puddle. However, we were together again; Alice, the White Rabbit and the Madhatter. And I was so happy being back in Wonderland.
