Where no one is left behind

Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family, in its widest sense. A unit of people stemming from the same root, but not necessarily related by blood. It is rather about creating a bond to other people and making sure that everyone is included and no one is left behind. I guess that the life abroad is one way of highlighting the need of ohana. Thousands of kilometres away from what we usually define as family, we meet people to celebrate birthdays and traditions with and who we can call when things are getting troublesome. On the other hand I think it is good for all of us to be apart of a family that is bigger and wider than what we would traditionally think. It is about belonging somewhere, feeling cared for and never forgotten. Not leaving anyone behind.
